ICT Solution: Seismic safety for Ex Stabiuzzo School
Cimadolmo is a small town on the outskirts of Treviso, one of the provincial capitals of Veneto Region. The area is characterised mainly by agricultural activities, and by industry and SMEs active in the metal, plastics and transport sectors.
The European Institute for Technology Development (IEST), a non-profit research association, and Cimadolmo City Council have signed an agreement to jointly address sustainable development challenges in the region. The challenges are outlined in the EU Political Charter, and relate in particular to Smart City, Smart Rural, regional economy, conservation of natural resources and green economy. In the context of this agreement, the Cimadolmo administration has opened the territory as an “open laboratory” for study, analysis, testing and recreation in the concrete application of Community policies.
Several areas of action have been drawn up, including the use of a former school dating from the early 1950s but currently disused. The building will be used as a model for structural, environmental and energy restoration and innovation, including building materials testing labs and a new building systems service.
Key technologies:
- Seismic security solution compliant with the legal and regulatory requirements.
- ICT modelling and design techniques applied to a specific type of construction structure of stone and brick built at the beginning of the last century, which could be applied to similar structures in the future.
